Boone The Basset Hound

Boone was more than a dog. He was family, a loyal companion, and, by all accounts, a very good boy. This portrait was created as a commission to celebrate his life and preserve the personality that made him so loved.

Like all of my artwork, the piece began with spontaneous marks that gradually revealed hidden faces, unexpected forms, and intricate details throughout the drawing. Boone’s gentle expression, signature droopy face, and colorful attire capture both his unique character and the joy he brought to those around him.

From across the room, the bold colors and whimsical style make an immediate impression. Up close, thousands of hand-drawn ink lines reveal layers of hidden imagery and fine detail, rewarding viewers with something new each time they look.

Although the original was created for Boone’s family, this open edition print celebrates the timeless bond between people and the dogs who leave paw prints on our hearts long after they’re gone. It’s a tribute to loyalty, companionship, and the unforgettable personalities that make every dog one of a kind.
