The Bellhop

With his towering hat, impossibly long profile, and calm expression, this whimsical bellhop looks ready to welcome guests into a world where nothing is quite what it seems. Like all of my artwork, he wasn’t planned from the start. He gradually emerged from spontaneous marks, with hidden faces, unexpected forms, and intricate details revealing themselves throughout the drawing process.

The bright yellow background makes the character stand out from across the room, while thousands of hand-drawn ink lines reward a closer look with layers of texture and hidden imagery woven throughout the piece.
